In order to go a bit deeper than with surveys, we can interview a particular set of people. Typical settings consist of face-to-face interviews with stakeholders. Our researchers have a long-track record of structured, semi-structured and in-depth interviews with potential users, secondary users (such as informal caregivers) and expert users.

Given Fraunhofer AICOS’s involvement with solutions for health, we often turn to medical doctors, psychologists or therapists to help us immerse in the different topics we work on. Interviews are quite useful in this process.

Interviews are recorded and typically transcribed for content analysis. In exploratory studies, we may use qualitative analysis techniques to analyse the transcriptions of a set of in-depth and thus identify core themes which did not emerge at first glance.
